The Washington National Cathedral is facing criticism over inviting Max Lucado to preach. While he’s one of the most beloved and uncontroversial personalities in the Christian church he does believe what the Bible teaches on sexuality, and that’s become the problem at the National Cathedral. As the Episcopal church has moved from full inclusion to full celebration of the LGBTQ agenda, the place for agreeing to disagree over sexuality has evaporated.
The aftermath involved both the Bishop and Dean of Washington National Cathedral issuing statements apologizing for the harm they caused by having Max Lucado preach. Shortly after, Lucado issued an apology as well.
How should we share the gospel in the context of opposition? What is the right way to speak the truth in love? In this episode, we discuss the worldview behind the pushback at the cathedral, the apologies, and the ways we can love our neighbors and stand firm in what we believe.
